Skitouring on the Gemmi

Gemmi Pass is a large area for ski touring. The difficulty level is intermediate.

The Wildstrubel – a classic (3,243 m above sea level)
The route to the summit of the Wildstrubel via Gemmi Pass takes about three hours, plus one hour for the return. We suggest that you rope up and travel in groups of two. Get to the top when the weather is clear and you can see up to 42 4,000-metre peaks. Facing the north you can see all the way to Germany. Breathtaking!

The Daubenhorn – a classic (2,941 m above sea level)
It should take a maximum of two hours to get to the top of the Daubenhorn. The mountain offers fantastic views of the Valais. The path is on the north side and it has good powder, so it is almost always accessible.

• Steghorn (3,148 m above sea level): 2.5 hours
• Roter Totz (2,848 m): 2 hours
• Rinderhorn (3,448 m). Approx. 4.5 hours up, one hour down. Crampons are almost always essential for the route from Rindersattel to the summit. Roping up is compulsory because of the extreme northern slope.
• Balmhorn (3,698 m): The tallest mountain in Gemmi Pass. The route begins from Hotel Schwarenbach. From here you will need about five hours to get to the top.
• Alte Gemmi: About an hour. This easy route is a good alternative in bad weather or snow. Head across the pass toward the Daubensee, then ascend between the Plattenhorn and Rinderhorn to Alte Gemmi.
