Thermal canyon walk

Almost dramatic and still poetic - the imposing thermal canyon walk path leads to the Dala gorge. The project was realised by the thermal spring guild, a relatively new association, which has the aim of marketing and preserving the thermal springs in Leukerbad.

The idea of a trail through the gorge was conceived by guild member Marco Marty a while ago. When his colleague Andreas Köppel, who is an enthusiastic mountaineer and manager of the rock stabilisation company Opal AG approached him about the Dala gorge, Marty immediately threw himself heart and soul into the project.

The path leads 600 meters into the gorge, the force of the water is almost within reach, along mossy rock faces, until you reach a 35 meter deep waterfall. Over narrow stairs the trail leads along the edge of the waterfall to its source, a spring. Perfectly shaped and almost artistically designed it lies in the Dala gorge - a pool of spiritual power, when you consider that, at the beginning of time, water had its origin in the middle of paradise. The trail to the waterfall and the stairs is wheelchair-accessible and flanked by spectacular insights and views. The thermal canyon walk complements the thermal spring trek.

The thermal canyon walk offers now wheelchair access

On 11 June 2005 the Thermal Spring Guild Leukerbad reopened the Thermal canyon walk, which now offers wheelchair access as far as the cascade of the Dala gorge.
Following the upgrading of the section leading to the waterfall, wheelchair users now have the opportunity to experience with all their senses the natural environment of the thermal springs and the raging waters.
In this conjunction, please note the regulations.

The thermal canyon walk and the thermal spring trek are open from June to October (depending on meteorological conditions).
