Thermal spring trek

In 2003, in the spirit of the UN International Year of Freshwater, Leukerbad celebrated the opening of the first thermal spring trek in Switzerland. While rambling through the village and the Dala Valley, visitors will come across nine graphic panels with information on springs and hot water at Leukerbad's most important thermal springs.

Where does Leukerbad's thermal water come from? How hot is Leukerbad's water when it gushes from the springs? This is the kind of information that is provided in an interesting manner to the numerous visitors to Leukerbad. The opening of the thermal spring trek means that a long-cherished wish of the Leukerbad Water Association and Thermal Spring Guild has finally been fulfilled.

Interested visitors will find information in German and French on Leukerbad's most valuable resource on nine attractive panels along a 3-km path through the village. The panels are located at eight springs and groups of springs. A varied mixture of images, graphics and texts is used to present topics such as history, dangers, geology, medicine, wellness and economic aspects at each spring. Why not come to Leukerbad and become an expert of thermal water in just two hours' walking time!

The thermal canyon walk and the thermal spring trek are open from June to October (depending on meteorological conditions).
