Health resort stay

1. Indications:
Dysfunctions of the locomotor system, caused by illness or accidents. Exhaustion as a consequence of serious illness. Mild disorders of the cardiovascular system.

2. Referral:
As a rule, patients are referred by hospitals, GPs or specialists for the purpose of diagnostic confirmation or therapy. The referring doctor obtains approval for reimbursement of costs from the pertinent health insurance.

3. Examination upon admission:
The out-patient doctor, who has experience in rheumatology, takes the patient's history and examines him/her, and, if required, intitiates additional diagnostic examinations (x-rays, lab, ECG). The findings are explained to the patient and the indications and any contraindications of the balneotherapy are pointed out in the individual case. On account of the diagnosis a specific physical balneotherapeutic programme is drawn up. If necessary, the doctor will also carry out therapeutic measures (infiltrations, manipulations, etc.)

4. Interim examination:
Halfway through the therapy medical examinations are done to review the diagnosis and the patient's tolerance of the therapy. Regular talks with the physiotherapists serve to further the progress of the therapy.

5. Final examination:
Upon completion of the balneotherapy the patient is asked about the success of the therapy and another physical examination performed. The further course of action (exercises at home, ability to work, necessary examinations after the stay, etc. ) is discussed with the patient.

6. Final report:
The referring doctor receives a medical report on the different examinations, therapeutic measures, evaluation and the further measures to be taken.
